"Charting the Course" A Guide to Assist Youth with LD
The National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth created
a guide titled, "Charting the Course: Supporting the Career Development
of Youth with Learning Disabilities." This guide, which uses universal
design strategies and approaches, provides "types and impact of
learning disabilities, needed supports, and research-based
interventions." Practitioners, administrators, transition programs,
youth employment programs, and policymakers in secondary and
post-secondary education programs can use this guide as a tool to help
improve services and outcomes for youth who have learning disabilities,
although the services can help those with undiagnosed learning
disabilities as well. Many youth have not yet been diagnosed with a
learning disability and this guide increase awareness of this fact.

7 Essential Elements for Quality Disability Documentation
The dimensions of good documentation discussed in the attached document
are suggested as a best practices approach for defining complete
documentation that both establishes the individual as a person with a
disability and provides a rationale for reasonable accommodations. By
identifying the essential dimensions of documentation, institutions
allow for flexibility in accepting documentation from the full range of
theoretical and clinical perspectives. This approach will enhance
consistency and provide stakeholders (students, prospective students,
parents and professionals) with the information they need to assist
students in establishing eligibility for services and receiving
appropriate accommodations.
